Вуд Фил

CV: Phil was born in 1959 and has been a partner in the urban and cultural policy consultancy COMEDIA since 2000. He has a MA with distinction in European Cultural Planning from De Montfort University.

Prior to that he was the Director of the Huddersfield Creative Town Initiative. He has 20 years experience in local government and the third sector, initially in the field of community and local economic development and latterly in Cultural Policy. His previous jobs were with Kirklees Metropolitan Council as Senior Community Development Worker, Senior Research and Development Officer and as Assistant Head of Cultural Services.

From 1997 to 2000 Phil was Project Director of the Huddersfield Creative Town Initiative a €10 million Urban Pilot Project of the European Commission, concerned with the development of virtual and physical creative industries clusters.

As a consultant with COMEDIA his projects have included the South Tyneside Transformation Commission. COMEDIA have been appointed by the Local Strategic Partnership to plan and implement a wide-ranging process to transform the aspirations, aims and image of the borough.

Phil Wood has been involved in three pioneering pieces of research and policy development of the creative industries, the East Midlands Creative Industries Study, the North East Cultural Cluster and the South Yorkshire Cluster Development Plan for Culture, Creativity and Multimedia.

Papers at international conferences including Creative City South Africa in Johannesburg, A Working Culture in Berlin, Culture and Local Work in Barcelona, New Approaches to Employment in Brussels, The World Congress on Town Centre Management in London, The Creative City in Helsinki and the Amsterdam Summer University.
